The Metal Table Nest, providing airflow beneath the EGG, is now an optional component for all Big Green Egg tables. The Table Nest is also useful for custom tables and outdoor kitchens.
CAUTION : The metal nesting table must be used in conjunction with a built-in table or frame. It should not be used as a stand-alone stand for your EGG. Do not place EGG directly on wood or combustible surfaces!
DO NOT USE A TABLE NEST TO SUPPORT AN EGG UNLESS THE EGG IS HOUSED WITHIN A TABLE, ISLAND, OR OTHER ENVIRONMENT.
THE LOW PROFILE NEST TABLE IS NOT DESIGNED OR INTENDED AS A STAND ALONE SUPPORT FOR YOUR EGG . Only the Mini and MiniMax have a Low Profile Nest designed to be used as a stand-alone base.
THE EGG IS DESIGNED TO BE USED IN A METAL NEST OR WITH A METAL TABLE, PROVIDING AN AIR SPACE UNDER THE EGG ; however, care must be taken not to place an EGG directly on combustible material such as ground cover or an extremely dry wooden surface, even if using a nest table.
A concrete paver or granite slab is often used to support the EGG when used on a table or built-in. If not used in conjunction with a nesting table, it is recommended that they be stacked a minimum of 3” thick for proper heat protection.
FOR MAXIMUM HEAT PROTECTION, IT IS BEST TO USE A COMBINATION OF A GRANITE TILE AND A METAL NESTING TABLE , especially if EGG is regularly used for long or high temperature cooking and is placed on a wooden surface.
PERIODICALLY CHECK THE AREA DIRECTLY UNDER THE EGG to ensure that there is no deterioration over time to the surface beneath the EGG due to heat transfer.
